Those were just thoughts that fell
like raindrops
during that first summer.
Before we realized it,
we had grown apart
but I've left the picture on the bank book, and the message on the
answering machine
just the way it was.
I wanted to keep on hearing that voice,
so I have yet to change the number.
To become as strong as much as I have wanted to give up -
that's the sort of future I ask for.
There is a track field
on the other side of this line of trees.
I see people running.
An unchanging place
through the changing seasons.
Frolicking lovers
like petals dancing in the wind.
If we had met at a different time,
would you have stayed by my side that way?
I hesitated over the slightest things.
I wish only for for a future where we will be together, always.
